U Loader contains Palatinose as its sole carbohydrate source. Palatinose is the brand name for the sugar type Isomaltulose. It is a sugar with a low glycemic index (GI32), which is not optimal for a sports drink from which you want quick energy, but for a carb loader, it's perfect. The absorption is 100%, and it provides 4kcal/g, equivalent to the carbohydrate sources in our sports drinks.

The main reason we chose Palatinose is that it's the first and so far only sugar type to receive the international "Happy Tooth" stamp from Tooth Friendly International for products that do not negatively affect our teeth. Palatinose is not an efficient carbohydrate source for sports drinks as it is absorbed 4-5 times slower than our carbohydrate sources in sports drinks and gels. Thus, the energy is delivered slowly to our muscles, which is not interesting during training and competition.

During a carbohydrate loading that lasts for 2-3 days before a competition, the speed of absorption doesn't play a significant role (i.e., whether the carbohydrates are stored as glycogen in the muscles in 10 minutes or only after 40-50 minutes) and considering that Palatinose is gentle on the teeth, we have chosen this for our U Loader.

Pro tip:

Creatine Monohydrate in conjunction with carbohydrates has been shown to lead to 82% faster glycogen storage compared to carbohydrates alone over a 24-hour period. Therefore, we recommend purchasing creatine if you are last minute and need to top up your stores. During a normal loading of 2-3 days, the body will store the carbohydrates as glycogen in the muscles, and you don't need to optimize with simultaneous creatine intake. But if you are last minute and want to optimize, that's a tip.

FAQs

Can U Loader be mixed with more water? Absolutely, U Loader can be mixed exactly as you like to achieve the strength of flavor you prefer best. It works just as well with 300ml as with 1 liter. Our recommendation is 2 scoops in 300ml for the best taste. But you can mix it both weaker and stronger if you want to adjust the flavor.

Can I drink U Loader when I'm training lightly? Absolutely, U Loader can be used as a sports drink. At doses up to a maximum of 60g of carbohydrates per hour on sessions where the intensity is relatively low, it functions well as a sports drink. In higher doses or during more intense sessions when the stomach is a bit more stressed, it's better to use our adapted sports drink U Sport 1:0.8, as it has a more efficient carbohydrate ratio for faster and higher absorption which is also gentler on the stomach.
