The Ultimate Performance ITB Strap helps relieve pain on the outside of the knee associated with iliotibial band syndrome. It is made from textured neoprene that prevents the strap slipping. The textured fabric also improves moisture management and ventilation. As a result, making it more comfortable to wear. The adjustable strap ensures a personalised fit and compression.
You can tighten or loosen the strap to fit your required tension. In addition, the soft neoprene blend provides firm, even support using body heat to aid healing. Recommended for: relief of pain on the outside of the knee associated with iliotibial band syndrome (ITB).
What is Iliotibial band syndrome?
Iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) is a common cause of knee pain, particularly among runners. The iliotibial band (ITB) is a thick band of fibrous tissue that runs down the outside of the leg from the hip to the shin. It helps to stabilise the knee and assist in bending the joint.
If the Iliotibial band becomes tight or inflamed, the tendon rubs on the outside of the knee. Therefore increasing friction resulting in pain and inflammation.
How does the Ultimate Performance ITB strap work?
You apply the strap around your leg, just above the knee. The ITB strap applies compression around the Iliotibial band, changing how the forces transmit through the tendon. As a result it relieves symptoms and aids the healing process. Use in conjunction with rehabilitation exercises.
