U Iron contains 100mg of Iron bisglycinate, providing 20mg of elemental iron per tablet. Iron bisglycinate is a gentle, organic form of iron with high absorption, often chosen to avoid stomach discomfort.

The iron is bonded to the amino acid Glycine, making the compound stable and ensuring it doesn't interact with other substances that can cause gut irritation. Glycine is easily transported through the gut membrane, carrying the iron with it. Absorption occurs in two ways: partly as an amino acid where some iron travels with the amino acid through the membrane, and partly as iron via regular iron transporters (DMT1).

U Iron also contains 50mg of Vitamin C to further enhance absorption*.

An iron supplement helps reduce fatigue and contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells and hemoglobin.

• Gentle: The iron is bonded to the amino acid glycine, making it gentler on the stomach compared to other forms of iron.

• High absorption: Chelated form efficiently absorbed in the small intestine.

• Dosage: The recommended dose is 1 tablet daily, preferably on an empty stomach in the morning (when levels of the hormone Hepcidin, which inhibits iron absorption, are generally at their lowest).

*For iron bisglycinate, there is no need to take Vitamin C simultaneously – absorption is already optimal due to its stable chelated form. However, it can be marginally beneficial if taken with a meal containing phytates, tea, coffee, or many whole grains, which can inhibit absorption.
