The Light Shell series was designed for versatility, having a wind and water resistant outer shell, combined with a lining material that is warm but doesn't store built up heat or moisture. The Light Shell series is versatile enough to perform year-round, as a middle layer during winter or and outer layer during spring and high elevation summer treks.

Dual-Axial Hood
(2-way Adjustable Hood)

Adjustable at two points: A Velcro tab adjusts brim height and two draw cords adjust fit around your face. This configuration provides a lightweight system for adjusting hood fit.

Lead-in Cord System
(Draw cords for hem adjustment hidden in pockets)

We put draw cords in the waist pockets to allow you to cinch the hem tight while keeping out the winter chill. The inner cord is protected from the elements and allows custom fit adjustment with one hand.

Chin Guard zip

A chin guard protects your chin and neck from the cold, rough zipper. The soft fleece lining provides additional abrasion-protection and comfort.

About the material: CLIMAPLUS Mesh

Used in Montbell's Stretch Light Shell Jacket, Pants and Vest, CLIMAPLUS MESH is double knitted using extremely fine polyester fibers. The space between these very thin fibers serves two important functions : entrapment of air for added warmth and wicking of moisture away from skin. CLIMAPLUS MESH is lightweight and compact. It dries quickly and resists pilling even after repeated laundering.
